So Fresh and SO clean
A favorite edit of a Ayo during our band shoot from a couple weeks ago. Rockin the shades with pop of red! Lit with the beauty dish boomed overhead through Einstein 640 fill created with large Octa behind the camera and just a splash of light on the background for some texture, depth and separation. Two ab800's through gridded strip lights for rim light and added separation. www.nakean.com http://flic.kr/p/mopsaw

Mr. Personality
I absolutely love this shot of Keith! It's screams, "hay! Here I am." Quite a bit of work be done in this photograph as these glasses were THICK! They reflected everything right back at the camera. Originally the fill light reflections were quite large blocking parts of the eyes. They are no more :) My second issue was the Beauty dish hung in the frame just over his head. It's gone now! The pattern and flare are from the strip lights on either side and that's something I didn't want to remove, as it give this image it's icing on the cake IMHO. Let me know what you think! The usual recipe with boomed beauty dish above softbox behind for fill. Two rim lights through gridded softboxes(grid give pattern on the background right). Shot in my West Seattle Garage Studio. http://flic.kr/p/mfbUC6

Standing Tall
Lit with Beauty dish overhead No fill this time around. gridded stripboxes for rim light on either side. Background is an overlay and actually placed on top of the image instead of behind. This helps maintain the shadows in the original image. http://flic.kr/p/mdxSQs

Golden Rims
One of my favorite shots from today's session! Diggin the gold rims(lights). Created with two strip boxes on either side gridded and gelled with full cto gels. Beauty dish boomed overhead and softbox behind through large Octa for fill. 1/2 cto gelled light behind for background light. — with Keith Naves at Nakean Photography. http://flic.kr/p/mc8xjX

Lesson Learned
About half of the time I arrive for a business headshot, the contact person I am to meet has not arrived, will not arrive, or is running behind. I am, then, at the mercy of the staff on site. They don't know me, understand the space I need or the time required to setup for a portrait. I am always treated with courteous and respect but mostly set aside and told to have a seat in a waiting room or wait in a main lobby. My client arrives and is ready to shoot but I have no location yet, as I have been patiently waiting in a small room somewhere. What makes it harder is the fact that these locations, more often than not, have been fairly secure with badges needed for doors and such. Not an ideal place to explore without credentials or an escort. However, from now on I will push harder to do just that. I both hate and love having to scramble at the last minute to find that perfect spot with no time to test to see if the images will work or not. I guess that's the gig! I wouldn't want to be doing anything else! Lit with a Einstein 640 Camera right and reflector camera left. Hair light courtesy of the ambient outside. http://flic.kr/p/m75pJo

Beach Love
I was lucky enough to run acrross these models and few photographers photographing these two on the beach in Mexico. I, of course had my camera with me and they let me snap a few images. www.nakean.com http://flic.kr/p/kS86Do
