Clements Family Photo

Love this family! It's fun photographing old friends I haven't seen in years. It never really feels like work! This was lit with black background with 1/2 cto gel on the background through white lighting x800. The key light was an Einstein through a large Softbox camera right. Blue Jade

First ever fashion shoot, and I'm lovin it! It's invigorating to jump out of your comfort zone and try something new! You never know what excitement and joy lies ahead. This image was lit with a einstein 640 through a gridded beauty dish boomed overhead. Fill light was provided by an EXD400 light through a large softbox just behind me. Two striplights are placed on either side of Jade to add a bit of rim light. In post blue light was added entering from the top of the frame to tie in the hat and chair which adds a tranquil, calming feeling to the image. Family Holiday Photo

-I love taking family photos, but I love it even more when i get to be in them! You can try these with a tripod and a timer but I would recommend getting yourself a wireless remote before attempting with children, or with this many people for that matter! We took countless photos and just like at work, there's almost always one or more people not looking straight ahead. Too often I don't offer to take my families photo, thinking it's a hassle and a bother for them all. More often than not it's exactly what they all hoped for! Thanks for wonderful Holiday breakfast, fun opening presents, and a wonderful outing at the park! I hope we can do it again soon! Mysterious Hot Pants

This photo was toward the end of our senior shoot. We photographed around Alki Beach and the water taxi in West Seattle until it started raining on us. I have no idea how her hair is as perfect as it is in this photo because it just spent the last hour or so being blown this way and that by some pretty powerful gusts of wind! Ok, let me address the tittle of this photograph (Mysterious Hot Pants). They were, most certainly, pink. Not crazy bright but everything else she had going on was darker. Almost 2 full stops darker! I took advantage of a little trick I keep preaching about, which is convert your image to black and white. Then see where your eyes take you. Straight to the pants and legs. I needed to tone these hot pants down and did so using the burn tool in Photoshop. It Really helped to even out the image as far as lighting was concerned. The Mysterious part is all in the eyes and slight covering of one of the eyes. An all natural light shot at Lincoln Park with the Trusty 85mm 1.2. I sht at f2 to get a little more DOF here and used a reflector just below and to the right to bring a little more of that gorgeous light in. A head shot with Melanie at the West Seattle studio. It's important to use the same modifiers when matching portraits as they can change the color temperature of your shots. You're probably thinking, "just white balance and you're good!" Problem with that is your if you change the color balance and then use your key for the white balance your will inadvertently change both your hair light temperature and your background temperature. The latter of which you client will surely notice when placing images side by side for something like a website or directory. Consistency is everything! Lit with Interfit ex400 camera right and large reflector camera left. Hair light boomed overhead with gridded striplight to keep spill from hitting background and her shoulders.
